Acacia Support Centre, the Sexual Assault Service in Port Hedland, is a community based organisation, funded by the Health Department of Western Australia. Their website includes information on sexual assault, date rape and child sexual abuse, as well as contact details for their counselling service and 24 Hour Crisis Line.

Australia’s National Research Organisation for Women’s Safety Limited (ANROWS) is an independent, not-for-profit company established as an initiative under Australia’s National Plan to Reduce Violence against Women and their Children 2010-2022 (the National Plan). It's mission is to deliver relevant and translatable research evidence which drives policy and practice leading to a reduction in the levels of violence against women and their children.

The Australian Centre for the Study of Sexual Assault aims to improve access to current information and resources in order to assist those committed to working against sexual assault. The Australian Women Against Violence Alliance (AWAVA) is one of the five National Women’s Alliances funded by the Australian Government to bring together women’s organisations and individuals across Australia to share information, identify issues and their solutions, to respond to and prevent violence against women and their children. AWAVA’s role is to ensure that women’s voices and particularly marginalised women’s voices are heard by Government.

The Caboolture Regional Domestic Violence Service Inc. aims to assist those affected by Domestic & Family Violence in a safe, supportive environment. COALITION AGAINST TRAFFICKING IN WOMEN - AUSTRALIA (CATWA) - www.catwa.com
CATWA is  the Australian branch of CATW International, a Non Governmental Organization having Category II consultative status with the United Nations Economic and Social Council. It works locally and internationally to end all forms of sexual violence and exploitation of women, especially the violence of prostitution, trafficking  and pornography. Their website has a list of speeches/papers, links, resources and actions.

 

DOMESTIC VIOLENCE REGIONAL SERVICE, SOUTH WEST - www.dvrs-sw.org.au  
Site includes details of Eros Project - Empowering Rural Women on Site. It is designed to assist women victims of domestic violence, particularly those women who live in rural, regional and remote areas in South West Queensland. Additionally the site contains a chat forum and discussion board for service providers in the South West who require information on domestic violence or who want to connect with other rural and remote workers.

dvconnect's vision is to provide a professional domestic and family violence service in Queensland which operates strategically within the domestic and family violence sector and responds effectively to the needs of the wider community. Their website includes an overview of domestic violence, information about special projects, details about their helplines and a range of useful links.

ounded in January 2003 to educate the general public and public safety workers about the crimes of sexual assault and domestic violence and to provide effective, victim centered, multi-disciplinary instruction in this area. Their goals are to provide training, with an emphasis on the law enforcement investigation and proper criminal justice responses to sexual assault and domestic violence. While it is a US based website, it still provides relevant information. The site includes a list of upcoming Conferences and an extensive list of links to a wide range of organisations.
 

GOLD COAST DOMESTIC VIOLENCE INTEGRATED RESPONSE - www.domesticviolence.com.au/gold.htm  
A community-based integrated multi-agency response to domestic violence that focuses on services working together to provide coordinated, appropriate and consistent responses to domestic violence within a justice reform model. The project includes court assistance and follow-up support for victims and their children, men’s groups and a system of interagency information-sharing, monitoring and tracking.
Includes information on project goals, strategies employed and protocols developed.

 

IMMIGRANT WOMEN'S SUPPORT SERVICE (IWSS) - www.iwss.org.au
IWSS works with women and children of non-English speaking backgrounds who are or have been in violent domestic situations and/or have experienced rape and/or sexual assault. They offer a crisis and support service that provides culturally appropriate support, information, short-term counselling and referral. Their website includes a list of publications, resources available in their library, forum papers, postitions vacant and a list of links to relevant organisations.

 

IMMIGRANT WOMEN'S DOMESTIC VIOLENCE SERVICE (IWDVS) -www.iwdvs.org.au
IWDVS gives voice and provides culturally sensitive services, statewide, to meet the needs of women and children from Culturally and Linguistically Diverse backgrounds (CALD) backgrounds affected by domestic violence. Their website includes information about services, training and education and women's stories as well as a list of upcoming events and projects.

Ipswich Women’s Centre Against Domestic Violence is a feminist community based organization funded by the Department of Communities (QLD). Their website includes information about domestic and family violence, legal information, a list of resources, a service directory and a list of links.

The Commonwealth, state and territory governments worked with the community to develop a 12-year National Plan to Reduce Violence against Women and their Children 2010-2022 (the National Plan). The National Plan focuses on the two main types of violent crimes that have a major impact on women in Australia–domestic and family violence and sexual assault.

Our Watch was originally established in July 2013 as the 'Foundation to Prevent Violence against Women and their Children'. It was established to drive nation-wide change in the culture, behaviours and attitudes that lead to violence against women and children.

 

PROJECT RESPECT - www.projectrespect.org.au  
Project Respect is an Australian non-government organisation which challenges exploitation of and violence against women in the sex industry. Project Respect was established in late 1998 to work with women and girls in the sex industry, and began direct service work in March 2000. They conduct outreach and offer services to women in brothels and tabletop dancing and where there is a high concentration of women from non-English speaking backgrounds. They have a particular focus on women trafficked to Australia for prostitution, and other women experiencing harm and violence within the sex industry. Their website includes a list of events and activities, resources and links and information on how to donate to Project Respect.

 

QLD CENTRE FOR THE PREVENTION OF DOMESTIC AND FAMILY VIOLENCE - www.noviolence.com.au  
Queensland state-wide service funded by Qld Dept. of Families that aims to develop a culture of intolerance to domestic and family violence, to develop strong partnerships between government, universities and the community, and to utilise these partnerships to conduct research that will both inform policy, and evaluate the direction and implementation. Site includes information on Queensland initiatives, including forums, research, publications, news and events.

Statewide implementation of routine universal screening for domestic violence in public antenatal and emergency departments. The Domestic Violence Initiative (DVI), which commenced in late 1998 with a grant from Crime Prevention Queensland, involves universal, routine screening for domestic violence when women present to public sector antenatal and emergency clinics. The aim is to enhance the capacity of mainstream services to provide more accurate diagnosis and appropriate responses for women who have experienced violence.
Site presents the aim and outcomes of the DVI. There is also details of the evaluation of both stages of the DVI, as well as a list of the publications arising from the project (including the evaluation reports of both stages of the project). This website is a site for resistance and activism; a place to reconsider "rape" as a societal construct.  The stated intention for creating this site was to open a space for dialogue on issues of gendered violence and to more thoroughly examine the concept and practice of rape in society. Within the website, the focus is primarily on sexualized gender-based violence (or that violence which is traditionally viewed as gendered and traditionally viewed as violent). The website has details on Laws and Definitions, Lies and Statistics, Resources for Survivors, a list of Links etc.

WEAVE aims to eliminate gendered violence (including sexual assault, domestic violence, stalking, sexual exploitation and trafficking). As a non-partisan coalition WEAVE Inc brings together groupings that have sometimes worked separately from one another, such as sexual assault services, women’s health services, women’s legal services, domestic and family violence services, and organisations working against trafficking. In drawing together key stakeholders that make up the ‘violence against women sector’ as well as survivors, and activist and interest groups, WEAVE embeds a wealth and diversity of experience and expertise within a single body.

WOMEN'S SERVICES NETWORK (WESNET) - www.wesnet.org.au  
Established in 1992, WESNET is a national women's peak advocacy body. Their vision is to ensure that all women and children can live free of domestic and family violence. Their website includes information about research projects and campaigns. There is also a list of publications, copies of Annual Reports, newsletters, media releases, facts and figures on domestic violence in Australia and a large list of links to a variety of national and international organisations. Details and links to upcoming conferences and seminars are also available as well as an online membership application.
